Next-level DEI: Billennium Signs the Diversity Charter

The strength of the Billennium Squad lies in the diversity of our people and the inclusive environment we’ve spent over 20 years building. Our team brings together people from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, genders, and experiences. And as we continue to expand and grow globally, we recognize that embracing diverse perspectives and lived experiences isn’t just beneficial; it’s key to our continued growth. That’s why we are proud to announce that we have officially joined the Diversity Charter, an international program spearheaded by the European Commission to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across workplaces in Europe.

Europe’s Path to Inclusive Workplaces

The Diversity Charter is a powerful initiative that brings together companies across Europe in the pursuit of creating more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces. It’s a program designed to hold organizations accountable to adopt best practices, challenge unconscious biases, and foster a culture of belonging for all employees. With over 15,000 signatories in 27 countries, the Charter represents a collective movement towards a more inclusive workforce. .

In Poland, the program has been active since 2012 and is coordinated by the Responsible Business Forum (FOB) – the country’s largest non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development. By signing the Diversity Charter, companies reaffirm their commitment to embedding DEI principles into every facet of their organizations, enhancing both internal culture and the ability to meet the needs of a diverse, global client base.

Global Reach, Local Impact

At Billennium, our commitment to diversity is reflected in our team, which spans across 11 offices on three continents – comprising employees from 25 countries. From Poland to India, Malaysia, Canada, Spain, Germany, and more, we proudly celebrate the diversity that defines our company.

Women make up 27% of our workforce, with 49% of them holding managerial roles. In 2023, we participated in the “Strong Women in IT” initiative, where seven of our colleagues were recognized for their significant contributions. To further support women’s interests in our company, we launched Billennium Women in IT group, providing a platform to advance gender equality in the tech industry.

CSR Initiatives and Cultural Celebrations

Every year, we celebrate both international and local holidays across our offices, such as Diwali, Holi, Children’s Day, Christmas, Navratri, Programmer’s Day, Merdeka, Halloween, International Women’s Day and more. We regularly share information about these celebrations and their cultural significance in our global newsletter. These celebrations offer our employees the opportunity to share their cultural traditions, fostering an atmosphere of inclusivity and mutual respect.

In 2023/2024, responding to employee feedback gathered through eNPS and Great Place to Work surveys, we placed a stronger emphasis on expanding volunteering initiatives. This led to the creation of the global CSR Grants Program Shape of Goodness. Through this initiative, groups of employees and collaborators have the opportunity to apply for funding to carry out their own original projects for social, environmental, or educational purposes. So far, we have completed over 20 projects, including: Bringing Joy to Our Seniors, Equal Opportunities in IT, Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle Among Youth, Distributing Supplies at the School for the Blind.

Continuous Feedback: Measuring Employee Experience

Understanding the needs of our employees is critical to ensuring we continue to foster an inclusive environment. That’s why our Employee Experience Team regularly conducts assessments, including the Great Place to Work (GPTW) survey and our own eNPS survey, to gather valuable feedback. According to our latest GPTW survey, 93% of employees feel treated fairly regardless of their race or ethnic origin, and 94% feel the same regarding their sexual orientation. Additionally, our internal eNPS survey revealed that employees rated their ability to maintain a healthy work-life balance at 3.9 (compared to the global average of 4.1), and the overall atmosphere at Billennium received a score of 3.9 (global average: 4).

These evaluations help us assess employee experiences in areas such as communication, relationships with supervisors, work atmosphere, and organizational culture. Last year, as part of the Employee Engagement & Satisfaction research, we conducted an in-depth analysis of our organizational values and launched the Cultural Revival project. We are committed to making DEI a key component of our cultural framework.

Partnering for DEI Progress

Our collaboration with FOB will enable us to align with leading international standards and guidelines – including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ISO 26000, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises – allowing us to make a meaningful contribution to global initiatives aimed at advancing inclusion, equality, and diversity. In addition, we will gain access to invaluable resources that will strengthen our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, including tailored advice, internationally recognized standards, best practices, and benchmarks. One of the key advantages is the Diversity in Check Survey, which provides a comprehensive evaluation of how effectively DEI principles are implemented within our organization

This survey covers critical areas such as management foundations, programs and initiatives, employee engagement, performance indicators, and the inclusiveness of our products and services. The insights we gain will guide us in refining our DEI strategies, tracking progress, and setting realistic, industry-aligned goals, ultimately fostering a healthier and fairer workplace for all.

While we take pride in our diversity, we are committed to a systematic and holistic approach, ensuring that DEI principles are embedded in every aspect of both employee and customer experience, making it the foundation of our daily actions and initiatives.
