We recently had the opportunity to participate in an inspiring industry event – the Fin&CyberTech Poland-Malaysia Forum. This meeting was an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge between Poland and Malaysia and a great platform to make new contacts and reflect on how financial technologies can shape the business landscape.
Billennium was represented by Theventheren Selvarajah, our Senior Delivery Manager, who appeared as a panelist, and Mariusz Kura, APAC Regional Director. Together, they showcased our global capabilities, especially in SAP solution delivery.
Event Highlights and Key Insights
The forum was opened with an inspiring speech by the Polish Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Krzysztof Dobrowolski, who emphasized the importance of the Polish-Malaysian dialogue in promoting fintech innovation. This was followed by Professor Lech Kurkliński of the Warsaw School of Economics, who, in his comparative speech, discussed digital payment trends in Poland and Malaysia.
Professor Kurkliński pointed out critical factors in fintech development, including the role of artificial intelligence and algorithms supporting automated decision-making, the development of payment infrastructure, and the need to adapt to regulatory changes in a rapidly changing fintech environment.
Leading fintech leaders, including Dr. Pawel Widawski, President of Fintech Poland, and Przemysław Zaręba, Head of the Foreign Trade Office, shared their perspectives on Poland’s global role in fintech, and Dr. Aranka Ignasiak-Szulc of Nicolaus Copernicus University presented the “Copernicus Hub Initiative” showing how cooperation between science and industry can foster innovation through education and research.
Panel Discussion – Fintech Trends in Malaysia and Poland
One of the event’s key moments was a panel discussion on “Fintech Trends in Malaysia and Poland,” moderated by Prof. Kurkliński. Theventheren Selvarajah represented Billennium alongside other industry leaders such as Calvin Foo of the FinTech Association of Malaysia and John Joseph Thomas of TTMS Malaysia. The panel focused on the growth of the fintech sector in both countries, as well as the cultural and regulatory differences that shape their markets.
Theventheren highlighted Malaysia’s strengths, such as the availability of skilled personnel and supportive regulations, which were crucial factors in Billennium’s decision to establish its Southeast Asia center, specifically in Malaysia. In addition, he pointed out the possibilities of filling fintech gaps in the microlending sector.
Billennium’s Global Capabilities and SAP Solution Delivery
After the panel discussion, Theventheren Selvarajah and Mariusz Kura presented our global capabilities and specialization in providing SAP solutions. They demonstrated how our services and expertise can support banks and fintech companies in the digital transformation process, tailoring solutions to meet the specific needs of both local and international customers.
