Billennium in 2021: Summary

2021 was a very good year for Billennium. Talent, intensive work and outstanding involvement of all employees have surely been crucial and allowed us to meet our objectives and also to achieve results that exceeded our forecasts in many areas.

If we had to choose only one word which is a common denominator for all the most important events for our company, the choice would be easy: GROWTH. Which directions of development have we pursued? What are our most significant achievements?

New points on the Billennium map international expansion

This year, we took another important step towards the strengthening of our position in international markets – the opening of a new delivery centre in Mississauga (Ontario) in Canada and an office in Germany.

These are the next countries (after Poland, India and Malaysia) in which we operate, and our new offices give us much more than just a local presence. We have ambitious plans to expand our Canadian unit, which involve, for instance, opening another office on the country’s west coast or broadening of the scope of our cooperation with the customers across North America.

Meanwhile, the launch of our office in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) brings us closer to the customers in almost the entire DACH region, which also includes Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.

Recruitment of new employees

Increase in employment is an integral part of the development of the organisation and new projects as well as the abovementioned international expansion. At the beginning of the year, we anticipated crossing the threshold of 1,600 employees.

It meant hiring over 500 individuals – with various specialisations and levels of experience. We managed to have achieved this goal by November. However, our needs continue to grow, as we constantly work intensively to cross new boundaries.

We have strengthened our structures both in Poland and also abroad. Over 200 individuals currently work at our offices in Pune, Kuala Lumpur, Mississauga, and Frankfurt.

Development of cloud competency

For many years, we have supported our clients in the digital transformation of their businesses and the shift towards using cloud solutions. We have successfully completed several major projects and implementations.

It would not be possible without your commitment to our clients and to the development of cloud competency. In the passing year, it has been reflected in crucial events which were noticed across the IT world.

In February, we became the first (and at that time: the only) Polish and the third European company to obtain the Advanced Specialization status in the Modernization of Web Applications to Microsoft Azure field. The Advanced Specialization status is a confirmation of the highest level of competence within Microsoft partner programmes.

In order to obtain it, we had to hold the Gold Partner title and meet a number of other criteria. Within the Microsoft partner programme, we have also achieved the Gold and Silver competencies in 10 other areas. Soon, we will apply for further Advanced Specialization statuses (in other categories).

However, this is not the end of our achievements in cloud computing. In September 2021, we officially joined the AWS Partner Network, gaining the AWS Select Tier status. We owe this distinction to the work of the DevOps AWS team, which was formed only 4 years ago – and today already consists of 25 individuals. From the day it was set up, the team has participated in more than 30 projects. Today, we hold 24 certificates related to AWS.

We are closing this year with another big milestone – a partnership with Google in the area of Service and Sell.

As a Google Partner, in these two areas, we are entitled, among other things, to create dedicated solutions and implementations on the Google Cloud Platform, but also to resell Google workspace licenses. The title of an official Google Partner increases our project potential and opens up new possibilities.

Benefits in the form of a dedicated mentor from Google, licenses for internal use, support in marketing, training, and sales, and access to the latest releases before the release date will allow us to broaden our competencies and better address customer expectations.

We have been providing our clients with Google solutions with success for 3 years. We are therefore even more so pleased with this partnership.

Obtaining the title of Microsoft Partner of the Year 2021

One of our greatest achievements this year was winning the title of Microsoft Partner of the Year in Poland. This award is the highest distinction granted by the Redmond technology giant. We received it for the first time in history.

The awards were granted by Microsoft in several categories. The honoured companies were selected from over 4,400 nominations from more than 100 countries.

We owe receiving this title to many months of cooperation with Microsoft, which resulted, for instance, in the delivery of projects in the fields of modernisation and implementation of apps based on the Azure cloud for the Ministry of Finance.

In addition, we obtained over 50 new certifications in areas such as Cloud Platform, Datacentre, Application Development, Cloud Productivity, Application Integration, and Data Analytics.

Earning the Great Place to Work Certification

All these achievements would not have happened without our teams and our people. At Billennium, we focus primarily on the sense of safety and stability, providing opportunities for professional growth and, obviously, the unique atmosphere created by the entire Billennium Squad!

As a result of our efforts and your exceptional commitment, we have earned the Great Place to Work Certification. This prestigious certificate is awarded based on an audit conducted by Great Place to Work – a global authority in the workplace culture assessment.

The results of the survey, conducted in April with the participation of 700 randomly selected employees, determined our company’s Trust Index®. We achieved as much as 75% – please note that the average for Poland is 48%! However, the audit has also pointed to some areas that require further improvement.

We can assure you that we have taken the comments contained in the survey very much to heart and are now taking action to further tailor the identified aspects of working at Billennium to the needs of our employees.

All our successes, achievements and milestones are the result of hard work, enthusiasm and professionalism of the entire Billennium Squad.

New challenges and demanding targets await us in the new year, but we are confident that with this approach and attitude we can make 2022 at least as good as 2021 – or perhaps even better!

As an organisation, we can assure that we will be committed to making Billennium a consistently better place to work – with great lively atmosphere and providing opportunities for continuous competence development and achieving professional ambitions.
